Pixasolar listed in Dutch National Environmental Database

Pixasolar is now listed in the Dutch National Environmental Database (Nationale Milieudatabase, NMD) for its bespoke BIPV panel families PixaBlack, PixaColour and PixaLucid.

As of May 2026, Pixasolar is now listed in the Dutch National Environmental Database (Nationale Milieudatabase, NMD) for its bespoke BIPV panel families PixaBlack, PixaColour and PixaLucid. The listing enables project teams to use product-specific environmental data in environmental performance calculations for building projects in the Netherlands. For architects, façade engineers, developers, and sustainability consultants, the listing creates a more accurate basis for specifying BIPV at an earlier stage of the design process.

Nationale Milieudatabase

In Dutch environmental performance calculations (MilieuPrestatie Gebouwen, MPG), solar panels can significantly impact environmental scores when generic worst-case data is used. Inclusion in the NMD enables the use of product-specific environmental cost indicators (schaduwkosten), expressed as verified Category 1 MKI values for these products, rather than generic Category 3 values. This positively impacts the building’s overall MPG score and supports projects targeting BENG and broader sustainability objectives.

BIPV as building product

“The inclusion in the NMD is an important step in positioning BIPV as a fully integrated building product,” says André Feenstra, CEO of Pixasolar. “Environmental performance is becoming part of every architectural and material decision. With validated product data, project teams can assess and specify solar façades with greater precision and confidence.”

According to Feenstra, demand for integrated solar façades continues to grow in projects where roof space is limited or where energy generation needs to become part of the architectural identity of the building itself.

Our BIPV panel families

PixaBlack and PixaColour are designed for architectural façade integration, allowing designers to work with uniform colours, hexagon patterns or custom imagery. PixaLucid is Pixasolar’s semi-transparent BIPV solution for façades, atria and canopies where daylight, visibility and solar generation must work together within a single architectural concept.

All products meet European electrical requirements for PV modules, including IEC 61215 and IEC 61730, as well as construction requirements for laminated safety glass under EN 14449. The panels are frameless and supplied with a junction box and connection cables. The mounting system and inverter are excluded from the product card.
